The Origin of Alain Michal

For generations, Alain's family has been devoted to fine jewellery. Alain followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both master jewelers.

In 1963, Alain’s father fulfilled his dream of opening a boutique near the Champs-Élysées, the heart of Parisian luxury. He moved the family business to No. 40 Rue du Colisée and entrusted its future to Alain, marking the start of a new chapter in their legacy.

The Genesis of the Name

Alain named the brand "Alain Michal", a tribute to family and heritage. The name blends "Alain" from his own name with "Michal", derived from his twin sister Michette’s name, embodying their unbreakable bond.

Brand Spirit

Jewellery artistry runs deep in Alain's family. From childhood, Alain was immersed in the craft, inheriting generations of expertise and a profound love for fine jewellery.

For over 60 years, he and his wife, Christine, have been the heart and soul of the brand, complementing each other perfectly and shaping its legacy together.

Since the 1960s, Alain Michal has drawn customers from around the world. Visitors to Paris often choose Alain Michal pieces as cherished gifts, while the brand has also crafted bespoke jewellery for dignitaries and renowned celebrities all over the world.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Alain and Christine found inspiration by visiting Italian jewellery salons, reinterpreting and refining the era’s most sought, after styles.

Signature design elements included openwork animal motifs, gold-set rings with vibrant gemstones, sleek yet substantial hinge, style pendant chains, and intricate rhombus or grid patterns, each reflecting the bold aesthetics of the time.

In 1980, Alain Michal's "Bracelet Boulons" (Screw Bracelet) won the Honorary Medal for Extraordinary Creativity at the Diamants 80 jewelry design competition, standing out among 125 entries.

Featuring an innovative magnetic closure, the bracelet requires a custom-made "key" to unlock, symbolising trust, exclusivity, and the deep bond between lovers, a tribute to love’s unbreakable connection.

In 1990, Alain Michal designed a keychain to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Hôtel Barrière Le Fouquet's. The keychain, designed by Christine and featuring the hotel’s logo, has remained a cherished piece ever since.

This cross, industry collaboration elevated the brand’s profile and fostered strong connections with cultural and social elites.

At its core, Alain MICHAL is driven by love and creativity, crafting each piece with meticulous care and artistry.

In 2024, the brand embarked its global journey, sharing its distinctive charm and elegance with the world.
